KAIROS HORIZON

Kairos Horizon Communities Corp. is a non-profit organization working with local faith communities and corrections officials to:

1. Organize a program collaborative of Kairos Prison Ministry, volunteer leaders, funding sources and state officials.

2. Begin with a 3-day Kairos introductory weekend presented by local Kairos Volunteers. This transformational event is broadly ecumenical and is offered to all who are accepted in the program. No one need be Christian to participate, and no effort at conversion is involved. Many Muslims and Jews have attended, even though the 3-day weekend is presented from a Christian point of view.

3. House from 48 to 64 inmates in a separate dormitory. Kairos Communities Corporation works with Departments of Corrections to modify an existing dorm just enough to create a living and learning space where some of the programs take place.

4. Encourage cooperative and communal living through weekly pod and community meetings and a self-developed code of conduct designed within existing security regulations.

Programs in Oklahoma are now in the planning stage.
